Paris Jackson launched a music career during the pandemic and it appears that her success in the field continues to skyrocket as she recently dropped a new song and is currently going on tour. Despite having a good trajectory, many fans wonder why she didn't follow in the footsteps of her famous father, Michael Jackson, in performing in the pop genre; find out below!
In an interview with Louder Sound, the 24-year-old vocalist said one of the main reasons why she isn't singing pop is because she resonated more with Grunge artists like Pixies and Nirvana when she was younger.
Promoting her new single titled "Bandaid," the musician/actress said this project is her most raw and vulnerable self compared to previous tracks she released.
"It's the first track I've truly let loose and yelled on in the studio, which you can hear in the third chorus, and I feel like that's why it had to be the title track for my next record," she added.
Elsewhere in the conversation, Jackson commended her working partner Simon Oscroft for helping her produced her song as it was her first time doing it.
The singer then expressed her gratitude to drummer Anthony Salazar for doing an incredible job in incorporating beats into her track, saying he hit the drums harder than Tommy Lee.

Even though the singer took a different route when it comes to her genre, she revealed in a previous interview with The Evening Standard that Michael Jackson would always influence her in some way.
"I think he'll always influence everything I do in some way, whether it's subconscious or intentional. I was around that creativity all the time, so I'm sure I learnt a lot of what I have from that," she said. (via NME)
She later opened up about the type of music she and her father would listen to in the past, the "American Horror Stories" actress said they loved listening to Kanye West and when the king of pop realized his daughter could match pitches, he was surprised and happy.
Paris Jackson is currently traveling across the United States as an opening act for Silversun Pickups. Her song "Bandaid" will be the title track of her next record.
