Shakira's moment of truth has arrived, and in a new tell-all interview, she revealed some surprising admissions.
In an interview with Televisa's Enrique Acevedo, the "Underneath Your Clothes" singer discussed how her divorce from Gerard Pique was affected, especially because it was due to adultery.
After 12 years together, the 46-year-old Princess of Latin Music and the 36-year-old Barcelona defender announced their split last year.
This is Shakira's second interviewafter the separation was publicized.
Gerard has moved on with Clara Chia Marti,23, and the "Waka Waka" singer has spoken out.
Being Emotionally Dependent on Men
She explained that she has come out of her painful breakup "strengthened," and now, she feels self-sufficient.
Shakira said she previously brought into the "story" that a woman needs a man but claimed that now, she feels complete because she can only depend on herself after confessing she had always been "emotionally quite independent on men."
Slight Dig at Gerard's New Girlfriend
Shakira told Enrique, "There is a place in hell designated for women who don't support other women." She was referring to Gerard Pique's new partner, whom she criticized in her hit song "BZRP Music Session #53" last month.
Self-Love and Acceptance
When asked where she stood in the discussion sparked by her recent collaboration, in which she appeared to criticize both Gerard and Clara, the artist replied, "I am exactly in the middle."
"I also believed that a woman required a guy to complete herself. I also fantasized of having a family with a mother and father living under the same roof."
"You don't realize all of your ambitions in life," she explained, "but life has a way of compensating you, and I think life has definitely done it with me with the amazing two children I have who fill me with love every day."
