Every album has its own inspiration; whether it encapsulates all your feelings of heartbreak, grief, or intense joy, a musician's album is a perfect manifestation of that.
Much like its names and titles, musicians can be as creative and as poignant in crafting their albums. As for DJ Khaled, his latest album title, "GOD DID," was inspired not by a track of his or any other mundane figure - it was actually a spiritual one like the name openly suggests.
Speaking to "The Jennifer Hudson Show," the 47-year-old rapper gets candid in explaining the origins of his Grammy-nominated album.
DJ Khaled 'GOD DID' Album Title Explanation
According to DJ Khaled, a spirit "talked" to him, which led him to decide on the album title.
"I was on the phone when somebody was just telling me something so disappointing... when you hear something like that you look at the phone like, 'what's this person saying?'," the We The Best Music CEO recounted.
Asking repeatedly the person on the other line about his name, he eventually hung up and felt defeated.
"I was like, 'damn, they ain't believe in us... then I was like, 'God did!' Like, haha!" he told Hudson. "God got us and what you just heard... that's not true,"
However, this was not the first time that the phrase was used by Khaled and his fans. In fact, he recalled that his fans had also used the phrase as he had been mentioning it on social media right even before "GOD DID" was released.
Khaled, who is a devout Muslim, also noted that it is "beautiful" if he can help to remind people that God is the "greatest" with his music and his album.
