Shakira opened up about feeling complete months after her split from Gerard Piqué.

On Wednesday, Shakira had an interview with Enrique Acevedo of Canal Estrellas (conducted in Spanish). During the discussion, the singer reflected on her current status and growth while seemingly throwing shade at her ex-lover.

According to the 46-year-old "Hips Don't Lie" singer, she was in love with love, that she became emotionally dependent on herself. She also told the host that she once believed that a woman, in order to feel complete, needs a man.

But after going through several issues, she realized that women could stand on their own.

"One way or another, I've managed to learn it from another perspective and feel that I'll be fine on my own," she said. "When a woman has to face [hardships] in life, she comes out stronger. When you come out stronger, it means you're learning to recognize your weaknesses and accept your vulnerability."

Now, Shakira focuses on going up after finally feeling she is enough. For the singer, she never thought that realization would happen.

She revealed she now feels complete after learning to depend on herself so her two kids could depend on her. She shares Sasha and Milan with Piqué.

As a mother, Shakira told herself she had to be "stronger than lion" while learning to accept pain and frustration.

Shakira, Gerard Piqué Broke Up

Shakira also threw shade at Piqué's new girlfriend, 23-year-old Clara Chia Marti. Her ex and his new girlfriend became Instagram official recently.

Elsewhere in her interview with Acevedo, she seemingly called out Marti by citing Madeleine Albright, U.S. Secretary of State's statement: "There is a place in hell reserved for women who don't support other women."

She recently released three songs that addressed the split, as well. Her song with Colombian star Karol G titled "TQG," tells the story of a person watching a former partner move on.

She also dropped "BZRP Music Session #53" with Argentine producer Bizarrap.

Shakira and Piqué started dating in 2011 after meeting on the set of her song, "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa). At that time, she was still dating Antonio de la Rúa. However, they broke up in January 2011 - a month before she and Piqué made their relationship Instagram official.

They announced their split in June 2022 and asked for privacy for the well-being of their children. Before their breakup, Shakira opened up on the "Planet Weirdo with Holly H" podcast (per Entertainment Tonight Canada) regarding her now-ex's issue with her punctuality and time management.
