Many fans have been waiting for Blink-182 to reunite on stage for years and they were happy when the band announced a reunion tour this year. However, supporters might need to wait a little longer as their series of concerts have been postponed due to Travis Barker's injury.
Earlier this week, the drummer shared disturbing images and video of his injury on his official Instagram account. The musician can be seen with a medical worker attempting to place his finger back in its place after it got dislocated.
In the caption, the musician explained that he would have surgery for his injured finger the following day.
Today, Tom DeLonge finally addressed his bandmate's medical emergency, saying the Latin American leg of their highly-anticipated tour is going to be postponed.
"This is just devastating on so many levels. But we're gonna get Travis better, we're gonna come down - the three of us, together - and we're gonna rock, and we're gonna have an incredible time with you guys," the musician noted, hinting that they're going to perform across Latin American cities next year.
The singer/songwriter further explained to their fans that their support means a lot to them and it's devastating for them to cancel the shows as they didn't see the injury coming.
Initially, Blink-182 was originally set to kick off their tour at Estadia San Marcos in Lima, Peru, on March 14, 2023. As of this writing, LiveNation and the band has yet to reveal the official rescheduled dates for their Latin American shows.
It's still unclear if the group would push back their North American tour dates, but according to their official website, their first show at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota, would push through.
The recent announcement comes nearly a month after the musician got injured for the first time while rehearsing for the group's upcoming shows.
At first, he tweeted out "f***," leading fans to be confused as to what he was referring to. He later addressed the issue saying he was playing the drums so hard to the point that his ligaments were torn.
Two weeks later, he shared a photo of his left hand online, saying he injured the same finger.
