Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber's drama had been all over social media. Speculations, fan theories, and even dug-up evidence have taken over TikTok and Twitter in the past few days.
Selena and Hailey's feud came about when the latter, along with Kylie Jenner, seemingly shaded the former over her overlaminated eyebrows.
Since then, social media has taken their own sides on who to defend in the ongoing online civil war.
Justin Bieber, the common denominator of the two women, seemed to be very silent about the drama. Selena and Justin famously dated from 2010 to 2018 before they broke up.
Hailey, on the other hand, was speculated to be linked with Justin months before he and Selena officially broke up. Since then, Selena fans worldwide had been egging Hailey for the alleged third-party involvement.
As years went by, the issue died down on social media as Selena got into a relationship with other celebrities, and Hailey and Justin tied the knot in 2018.
Amid all the drama, fans have been digging for proof and evidence to prove that Justin, despite his marriage to Hailey, was still in love with Selena. Among the proof that fans speculate to be was that Bieber's "Ghost" lyrics actually talked about Selena and not his own wife, Hailey.
Justin Bieber 'Ghost' Lyrics Explained: Is Selena Gomez The Inspiration?
Ever since the issue between Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber exploded on social media, a lot of people have speculated that Bieber's song "Ghost," was written for Selena.
However, in an interview, as quoted by Capital FM, Bieber actually dedicated the song to the people who lost their loved ones because of COVID-19.
"There's a lot of people who have lost people from other things and just lose people, might not be a death, but have lost people that were in their life for a season and now that person isn't," he revealed. "So, that can feel like a loss almost like you're grieving that person so this song is kind of like that vibe of grieving that person but still having hope in the process."
However, that did not stop fans from theorizing that it was written for Selena. Many have pointed out that Hailey has "copied" Selena in many ways, from wardrobe similarities, tattooing Selena's ring from Bieber on her own ring finger, and even having a cursive G tattoo under her ear, the list goes on.
On the lyrics of "Ghost" - "If I can't be close to you, I'll settle for the ghost of you," fans think that the "ghost" that Bieber was alluding on the song was Hailey - meaning since he could not be "close" to Selena, he settled on her "ghost," which many believe to be Hailey.
Fans also suggest that the lyrics of "Ghost" resemble those of Selena Gomez's 2010 hit "Ghost of You."
