Cheryl has upgraded her security during her current West End stint in response to a stalker incident.

Currently, the Girls Aloud singer is appearing in" 2:22 A Ghost Tale" at London's Lyric Theatre.

However, her regular performances have apparently been marred by 'disgusting' messages left at the theater.

A source told The Sun that there has been at least one lunatic has been sending really revolting and nasty messages. While she has not seen them, but they are included among the flowers people leave behind after performances.

As such, Cheryl has plenty to worry about each night when she performs in front of a crowded house, therefore steps have been taken to increase security and put her mind at ease.

Reportedly, Cheryl has a security crew monitoring her activities and escorting her everywhere, with a car waiting for her outside the stage door to return her to her home in Buckinghamshire.

Jake Wood, Cheryl's co-star, remarked this week that Cheryl's attitude to her West End debut has been bold. The 50-year-old actor from EastEnders resumed his part as Ben in the supernatural thriller after Hugo Chegwin left from the production due to sickness during rehearsals.

Cheryl portrays Jenny in the play, and despite having no prior acting experience, Jake says she has been "amazing."

He shared that while he's sure Cheryl felt the pressure, but after so many years in the business, she's very fearless.

Jake, who originated the role of Ben alongside 37-year-old pop sensation Lily Allen in 2021, discussed how some individuals were resistant to Cheryl's participation in the production. According to him, "some areas" feel that "certain individuals should stay in their boxes," but he believes it's a good thing for people to "spread out." The former soap star acknowledged that performing in front of "a few hundred" people in a theater is like water off a duck's back for pop musicians who have performed in front of thousands of fans in arenas.

Cheryl replaced television host Laura Whitmore when she joined the new cast of the show, which will run at the Lyric Theatre until April 23 and features Horrible Histories actress Louise Ford as Lauren and theatrical star Scott Karim as Sam.

This is not the first time that Cheryl experienced great attention - to the point of being unbearable.

She has kept a quiet profile during the past few years. Cheryl suffered "unbearable" press attention in the late 2000s, when she was juggling The X Factor with a tremendously successful music career, first as a member of Girls Aloud and subsequently as a solo artist.
