Metal bands are great for satire, even if you hate the genre altogether. Today's awesome example is Puig Destroyer, a baseball-themed grindcore band. The band's title is obvious enough. "Puig" is a reference to Los Angeles star outfielder Yasiel Puig and "Destroyer" hails to grindcore band Pig Destroyer.
Gridncore is a genre that doesn't exactly allow for the most discernible of lyrics, but you can tell from the song titles that the tracks are at least about baseball. "No Pepper" and "The Road to Omaha" are among the more inside references to the game that serve as song titles, plus Major Leaguers Mike Trout, Mark Trumbo and Puig get their own tracks (although Trumbo's is under his nickname, "Trumbomb" and Puig's is under his own nickname "Wild Horse"). The best title however has to be the universally true "No One Cares About Your Fantasy Team."
In case there's any doubt, drummer Riley Breckenridge (a member of Thrice as well) also writes a baseball blog called Productive Outs.
The band's first album, self-titled, is due out on September 30 on No Sleep Records. Check out the full tracklist below:
