Selena Gomez said she would "forever be in debt" to her best friend, Francia Raisa, for giving her a second life.

Gomez and Raisa had been friends for over a decade. Their relationship was also strong enough that Raisa entrusted her with one of her kidneys to save her from lupus.

On the Friday episode of Apple TV+'s "Dear..." the "Lose You To Love Me" singer expressed her gratitude to her friend for saving her life. According to Selena, she felt afraid for her life due to the effects of lupus on her life and body.

For what it's worth, she experienced weight gain due to the new medication she took. But while trying to recover, her kidneys started to fail because of her autoimmune disease.

"Within three days, she went to [get tested], and she was a match. And it was one of those moments where I felt watched over. I know I was so so so lucky," Gomez said, per Rolling Stone. "I understand that that doesn't happen for a lot of people, and I know the outcome of some of those situations and how serious they are, so I do not take it lightly that it's happened to me that way."

Gomez noted that she would never be more in debt to a person than Raisa. For the singer, having someone who did not have second thoughts about giving her a kidney left her overwhelmed.

Her recent comment about Raisa came after she was accused of completely shading and ignoring Raisa in one of her interviews. Fans noticed when Gomez said Taylor Swift is her only friend in the industry.

Because of that, she got called out online for forgetting Francia's sacrifice.

Selena Gomez's Battle With Lupus

The "Love You Like a Love Song" hitmaker started her battle with the dreaded disease in 2014 but revealed it only in 2015 through Billboard.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, lupus damages any part of one's body. It causes pain and stiffness as the disease attacks the body's healthy tissue.

Gomez soon faced a complication, called lupus nephritis. This led her to need a kidney transplant. Per the Lupus Foundation of America, around 15 to 20 percent of people with the same symptoms need a kidney transplant or dialysis.

The singer had to go through chemotherapy, causing her to take a break in 2014. The procedure helped her avoid a stroke.
