After realizing that Selena Gomez lied about something, social media is divided.

The former Disney channel personality discussed the impact of bullying in online comments in the newest "Dear..." documentary series, which was published last week on Apple TV+. The "Lose You To Love Me" singer admitted she lied when she stated she wasn't bothered by the body-shaming comments and would instead cry herself to sleep in her room.

Selena said she "lied" when she claimed she was unaffected by unfavorable remarks about her figure.

Per Page Six, the 30-year-old said in the documentary, "I lied. I would go online and I would post a picture and I would say, 'It doesn't matter. I'm not accepting what you're saying,'"

Selena stated that, despite portraying herself as impervious to online harassment, she continues to cry because "no one deserves to hear those things."

The "Wizards of Waverly Place" star admitted that she was only writing positive things, such as how body shaming didn't upset her since she didn't want others who were going through the same thing to be concerned.

"Getting shamed for what they look like, who they are, who they love, I just think it's so unfair. I don't think that anybody deserves less than. I was being shamed for gaining weight because of my Lupus."

Selena Gomez opened up about her Lupus struggle in 2015. Lupus is a chronic autoimmune illness that affects many body parts, including the skin, joints, and internal organs.

The "Come and Get It" singer disclosed that she had Lupus and had gone through chemotherapy to treat it. She has been candid about her Lupus challenges and the impact it has had on her life and work.

Since then, the Rare Beauty entrepreneur has become a lupus awareness champion, using her platform to generate cash for research and support for individuals affected by the condition.

She has also been active in the Lupus Research Alliance, where she has generated millions of dollars to fund research into lupus therapies and a potential cure.

While chronic autoimmune illness may not directly cause weight gain or obesity, Lupus and its associated symptoms and therapies can have a variety of effects on a person's weight and body composition.

People with Lupus may also have other health issues, such as thyroid problems or renal illness, which can influence their weight and metabolism.

Others couldn't wait to bash her on social media, according to the "Only Murders in the Building" star.

Selena took to TikTok to respond to criticism over her appearance and reveal that her lupus medicine produced severe weight changes.

The latest discussion on the "Dear..." documentary series rapidly split social media.

"Be strong, Selena, we love you," one person said.

"I feel like... if they disgrace you... shame them back?" asked another.

Other individuals, however, continue to criticize Selena Gomez for claiming to be a victim.

"I hope y'all could wake up to this girl's bogus victim mentality," one commenter commented.

Some even claim she is exploiting Justinand Hailey Bieber for media purposes, with one commenting, "I'm pleased they aren't addressing her."

"Another pity party seeking statement," a third individual said.
