Monday at SXSW, Nick Jonas participated in a panel titled "Crushing: The Impact of Diabetes on Patients."

The moderator introduced him to the audience as a global superstar and proud dad. The diabetic father of Malti Marie, age one, was at SXSW to discuss the disease and the technology that helps him monitor and control his Type 1 diabetes.

Jonas, who recently provided comfort to his wife Priyanka Chopra, was diagnosed at the age of 13, just as his career with the Jonas Brothers was taking off.

Not only was it an interesting trip for him, but also for his family and community, the 30-year-old Sucker singer stated.

He said he wanted to make it a priority to speak out and advocate for this condition, for young people and everyone living with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. He shared that his glucose (blood sugar) level was above 800 at one point, although the ideal range is 70 to 120.

Adolescence alone is a significant obstacle for young people; when you add diabetes or any autoimmune condition to the mix, it may be quite difficult, Jonas lamented.

He said he had to balance his lifestyle with touring and working as much as he was working at the time...while figuring out how to manage this sickness. Following his diagnosis, Jonas co-founded the non-profit Beyond Type 1 to increase diabetes awareness and information accessibility.

His objective is to make it more patient-friendly and less technical. On the panel were Jonas, Thomas Grace of the Blanchard Valley Diabetes Center, Mireya Martinez of the Pattison United Methodist Church, Colorado State Representative Leslie Herod, and Jake Leach, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Dexcom. Dexcom manufactures the glucose monitor that Jonas wears. Last month, he starred in a Super Bowl advertisement for Dexcom advertising continuous glucose monitors (CGMs).

One in ten People have diabetes and are forced to make millions of minute decisions to stay alive. For the most resourced patients in the United States, the burden of diabetes still looms large.

Following for Jonas is a journey to New York City for a five-night residency at the Marquis Theatre on Broadway with the Jonas Brothers. Each night, the band will perform an entire album from a different album, concluding with their newest release The Album. The Album will be the sixth studio album released by the American pop-rock band Jonas Brothers. It will be available on May 12, 2023. The album's first single, "Wings," was released on February 24.
