Before Lisa Marie Presley's death, she was able to share Elvis Presley's story with "Elvis" director, Baz Luhrmann.
Amid the success of "Elvis," its creator and cast members constantly appear in interviews to share how they made the King of Rock and Roll's biopic. Its director, Luhrmann, revealed in one publication the "happiest part" of the movie for Presley.
Lisa Marie Presley Revealed "Best Part" of Watching "Elvis"
Luhrmann told Entertainment Tonight that the late singer-songwriter was happy about how her father was portrayed and how the fans looked at him after watching the biopic.
"What we did well, the one thing that Lisa Marie was so happy about, was that her father was somewhat put back through the film in the right place in the hearts of people around the world and a whole new audience," the filmmaker said. "So that's maybe one thing that is in the right place."
Aside from the film's storytelling, Luhrmann learned how amazed the Presley family felt because of Austin Butler's performance. The actor recently won a Golden Globe for Best Actor and BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his portrayal of the late "Can't Help Falling in Love" singer.
In a separate interview with The Wrap, Luhrmann praised the actor's performance and cited the comments he received from Elvis' ex-wife, Priscilla.
According to the filmmaker, he thought he would never find anyone who could play the singer's role, so he never really had to do it. But Butler changed the game.
Per Luhrmann, Priscilla expressed how she could not understand how someone - Butler - knew the moments about Elvis no one ever saw before and show anger and loneliness like how the singer did.
Awards, Nominations Baz Luhrmann's "Elvis" Scored So Far
Although "Presley" nears its first anniversary of release, the film still garners nominations and awards from different accolades.
Among its recognitions, the acknowledgement that it has officially become the second highest-grossing music biopic of all time already proved how the movie touched people's hearts. It falls behind "Bohemian Rhapsody," which centers on the life of Queen's late frontman, Freddie Mercury.
