Remy Ma has hit the ground running since her release from prison earlier this month. Within her first two weeks home she released a track "They Don't Love You No More," a remix of DJ Khaled's single, and "MegaDeath" a collaboration with French Montana, Jadakiss, and Swizz Beatz. According to MTV, her first post-jail project, titled I'm Around, will be coming out very soon.
"I'm trying to have it done by this weekend, so I can put it out next week," she told MTV earlier this week.
She explained that the mixtape reflects her personal experience in prison.
"It's kind of impossible, after being in prison for six-and-a-half-years, and being home for 19 days, to only talk about what I'm going through right now [adjusting to," she said. "It's very hard not to bring up what I went through. Even though, in the future, I don't want to keep dwelling on the past. I don't want to dwell in the past now, but that was a large part of my life, so it has affected me in a lot of ways, and it will show in my music."
Although she's received requests for features from her peers who are excited she is back in the game, she wants to make sure to find a balance of solo and collaborative material.
"I've been really focusing on my own solo records right now," she explained. "I feel like I haven't been able to put forth my best, or what I wanted to do, so before I get too overwhelmed with doing everyone else's things, I want to make sure I have my own Remy thing going on."
No official release date has been announced, but we'll keep you updated as more information becomes available.
