Genesis took the spotlight more soon after Forbes announced that the band was the highest-paid entertainer of 2022.
In 1967, Genesis started its career and immediately became one of the pioneers of the progressive rock genre. The band is currently composed of Tiny Banks, Mike Rutherford, and Phil Collins - the latter, however, announced his retirement from touring due to health issues.
The band has not released a new album since dropping "Live at Knebworth" in June 2021. It, however, gifted its fans with the remaining dates of its The Last Domino? Tour and even secured a deal with Concord.
Genesis' Net Worth 2023
Following its deal with Concord and its earnings from The Last Domino? Tour, Forbes hailed Genesis as the highest-paid entertainer of 2022 after the band earned a whopping $230 million. Per the magazine, its $300 million music rights sale deal played a huge role in having whopping earnings.
With countless bands across the world, here are the reasons why Genesis continues to dominate the industry despite the members focusing on individual endeavors now.
Genesis' Career Explored
Fans often refer to Genesis and its members as the musicians who "changed the world and rock music."
After its formation in Godalming, Surrey, Genesis created its own name despite having big rivals, including Queen. In fact, Roger Taylor was asked to join the band in 1970 but declined.
Genesis started scoring the public's attention with its early hits, including "The Silent Sun," "That's Me," "A Winter's Tale," and "One-Eyed Hound." It went through highs and lows until it finally peaked in 1974 when it dropped "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway."
It notably released albums and songs, including one inspired by "The Little Prince," until it lost most of its founding members. Phil Collins soon found himself behind the microphone, and he led the band to the centerstage again with "Face Value."
From 1986 to 1987, Genesis' "Invisible Touch" scored five Billboard top 10 places with its hit songs including its title track, "In Too Deep," "Tonight, Tonight, Tonight," "Throwing It All Away," and "Land of Confusion."
In Genesis' biography "Chapter and Verse," Mike Rutherford said that the band's success led to its members' success - and vice versa.
"The amount of success Genesis has had, plus Phil's solo career, Peter's and the Mechanics' has been unreal," Rutherford said. "There was a time when we all had a single in the American charts, Steve too with GTR; it was ridiculous."
