Nelly Furtado has re-entered the recording studio.

Nelly Furtado ft. Charlotte Day?

Since 2017's "The Ride," the "I'm Like a Bird" hitmaker has not released a new album. However, she uploaded a studio footage with Canadian musician Charlotte Day Wilson over the weekend.

Charlotte Day Wilson is well-known for her collaborations with Daniel Caesar, River Tiber, and BadBadNotGood. On Charlotte's Instagram Story, the 44-year-old Nelly was seen swaying on a chair while she played the piano. "Slow, slow, slow it down, she sang," Nelly sang the lyrics and tagged the video with the phrase "GOAT energy."

The last album by the 'Say It Right' hitmaker was published on her own record company, Nelstar Music. Nelly has stated that she believes feeling "broken" inspired her to "write good stuff" on "The Ride," of which she is "absolutely more proud" than anything she has written previously.

In 2017, she stated that she entered the studio broken. She arrived completely empty. As cliche as that may be, when she's truly experiencing it, it can be extremely inspiring for songs. She despises saying that because it gives the impression that adversity is required to generate good material, which she does not believe is true. However, she added that she is undoubtedly more proud of these lyrics than any others he's written.

The Grammy-winning artist has previously vowed to continue "following [her] heart" and being "authentic" so that she does not end up with regrets.

Will Nelly Furtado End Her Hiatus Soon?

Five years have passed since Nelly Furtado commanded a stage for more than one song. She did return to live music though before 2022 ended. The singer made a rare appearance at Australia's Beyond the Valley music festival for a 35-minute performance that featured a hit-packed setlist. Furtado began her performance late at night as festivalgoers celebrated the upcoming new year.

The six-song set included "I'm Like a Bird" and "Maneater," as well as "Promiscuous" and "Say It Right," with later assistance from house music producer Dom Dolla. The artist also enlisted Dolla for a remixed version of Timbaland's "Give It To Me" and SG Lewis for "All Good Things (Come to an End)". Furtado has not played a full set since her 2017 tour in support of her sixth studio album, The Ride.

The singer made a surprise appearance at Drake's OVO Presents All-Canadian North Stars event in Toronto last year. On her first official return to the stage, she sang a truncated version of "Promiscuous" and a Drake-assisted rendition of "I'm Like a Bird."
