Lea Michele has been receiving rave reviews for her leading role in the Broadway musical "Funny Girl," but she had to call out of the recent show due to an emergency.

Taking to her Instagram stories, the musician, who was popularly known for starring in the hit television series "Glee," revealed that she couldn't make it to the show as she's currently in the hospital with her son who's dealing with a "scary health issue" and she had to be there.

"We are at the hospital with our son dealing with a scary health issue that I need to be here for. I'm so sorry. Please send us some love and strength," she added.

As of this writing, the musician did not reveal the specific medical condition that her son is suffering from.

Lea Michele 'Funny Girl' to End in September

Despite amassing massive success over the past few months, Lea Michele along with the other major actors starring in "Funny Girl," will take their final curtain call this September 3, 2023.

The reason behind it is unclear as the shows have been sold out, compared to Beanie Feldstein who initially landed the role.

Based on numbers, the production made history at the August Wilson Theatre as they were able to make $2 million in one week.

Even though Michele, along with Jared Grimes, Tovah Felshuh, and Ramin Karimloo, would leave the production, it won't be the end of "Funny Girl" as the show would go on a tour across the United States beginning on September 9, 2023.

Lea Michele Updates

Last month, the musician spoke to Interview Magazine to look back at the backlash she received a few years ago after many previous co-stars claimed that she bullied them on set.

"I think these past two years have been so important for everybody to just sit back and reflect," she said. The Broadway actor then noted that she reached out to those people personally, but the most important thing she did was to take a step back (via Billboard).

Speaking about the experience, the "Glee" star said her life got "turned upside down" in a lot of ways.

At the time of the controversy, which happened during the beginning of the pandemic, the star issued a public apology, saying although she didn't remember the claims, what matters is she acted in ways that hurt people.
