Something seems different with Liam Payne - a whole lotta different. Fans certainly cannot help but ask what happened and if he's okay. While he does not look bad, he does look older and more gaunt, prompting some experts to say that he certainly has gone under the knife. Women are not the ones only keen on getting surgeries, after all.

Is Liam Payne Okay?

According to Daily Mail UK, some aesthetic experts have weighed in on Liam Payne's transformation after fans cannot help but take a double take on his drastically different look.

The One Direction star, 29 recently enjoyed a date night with girlfriend Kate Cassidy at London's Sexy Fish restaurant on Wednesday. Noticeable is the fact that his face feels more square and chiseled, as opposed to his baby-looking face in the past.

In recent weeks fans have flocked to Twitter to query what had really happened, with many questioning if he's undergone sugergies, particularly buccal fat removal. Or could it be that he's fighting some secret battle that no one knows about, which causes him to lose weight?

Experts believe the former as there is at present aast growing trend among celebrities and social media personalities alike cuts out fat pads from the inside of a person's cheek. When that happens, the person achieved a more angular face as a result.

It can look quite good and natural, as in the case of Liam Payne. Only, fans were accustomed to his rounder face before.
Aesthetics doctor at Lumenis and founder of Skin Doctor Clinics, Dr Saleena Zimri has now given her expert opinion on what she thinks Payne did.

"It does look like Liam has had some kind of buccal fat removal," she said. She added that it's also possible that the singer also had a jaw implant also.

Speaking about the rise in popularity of the procedure, she said, "The majority of people I see who have had or are seeking this type of treatment are typically in their 20s to 40s with full, round, or "chubby" cheeks who seeks a more defined facial appearance."

One Directioner Faces Risks

She placed some caution though for those who want to follow this alleged Payne route. It's not risk-free! In fact, one day, Liam Payne might regret it, it seems.

"Anyone considering buccal fat removal should consider the longer-term implications too. Well-defined cheek hollows and less fat on the face looks good now in younger patients, but as we age, we lose volume in our face, and this can cause us to look visibly older," she discussed.

Good thing though that Liam Payne did it quite early. If he decided to do it later, he might look more older!

"I wouldn't recommend this procedure to anyone over the age of 40, as it may lead to an appearance that enhances the visible signs of ageing. Also, if your face is already angular, buccal fat removal could make you look gaunt, and older than you are," the doctor said.

Dr. Mo Hamed, who runs aesthetics clinic Dr Motox, also gave two cents. He particularly believed that Payne got a jawline filler to give him a chiselled and contoured side profile.

He surmised why men are going for it and going under the knife when it used to be much more of a female thing. "A wider and chiseled jawline is associated with more strong masculine features," he said.

Of course, these expert opinions are just that...opinions. Liam's representatives haven't confirmed anything. Speaking in 2021, Liam revealed he looked really bloated after going through a 'wild booze and pills phase."
