John Hamm gets to wear sweatpants and blow his whistle so hard at the upcoming movie adaptation of "Mean Girls: The Musical."
Hamm is the third adult character cast in the said highly-anticipated movie musical, following the announcement of Tina Fey and Tim Meadows' reprising their roles in the original movie.
John Hamm on 'Mean Girls: The Musical'
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the award-winning actor is set to play the gym and hyped-up sex-education teacher Coach Carr on "Mean Girls: The Musical."
Hamm will be joining Fey and Meadows' as the only announced adult cast so far in the movie. Fey, who is also the creator of the movie and the Broadway musical, will be reprising her role as Ms. Nordbury, while Meadows will be returning to his office at North Shore High's principal-in-charge.
Dwayne Hill originated the role from the movie, where he played the character who was later on revealed at the burn book to be a sex offender - a rather complete irony from being a sex education teacher and a gym coach.
Hamm, who possesses a huge array of acting credits and acting recognition, can be a huge bump for the Paramount+ Original film. Out of 16 Primetime Emmy nominations, Hamm has won one as the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for "Mad Man."
He also won two Golden Globes for Best Actor in a Television Series - Drama and two Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Ensemble in a Drama Series for the same role.
The "Top Gun: Maverick" actor was the most recent casting announcement for "Mean Girls: The Musical."
'Mean Girls: The Musical' Cast Update
The news came weeks after Page Six reported that the original cast comprising Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried, and Lacey Chabert has expressed willingness to return to the movie.
However, reports say that they were "disrespected" with the compensation for returning to the show - lowballing them by Paramount despite the huge value that they would be adding.
"Paramount Pictures doesn't want to pay the girls what they are worth. All four girls were willing to come back, but Paramount has not been respectful of what they are worth," the outlet reveals.
As of this writing, Paramount has not issued any statement to refute the said allegations.
