It's been almost five years since Mac Miller passed away and many fans have been longing for his music ever since. More recently, it appears that new songs are coming their way as Madlib confirmed that he's working on the late rapper's posthumous project.

Speaking on "Sway in the Morning," rappers Talib Kweli and Amani Fela, as well as producer Madlib, opened up about their recent projects.

Later in the conversation, the California-based musician revealed he's currently working on Miller's album and it appears that it would be released soon as the record production is in its final stages.

"Right now, I'm finishing up the Mac Miller album, Planet Asia album, Erykah Badu album, different stuff," he said. (via XXL Magazine)

Mac Miller's Estate Approved Late Rapper's Posthumous Albm

Elsewhere in the interview, Madlib was asked to give more insight about the upcoming record. He was asked if it was the same album that was mentioned years ago but was never released.

The producer didn't hesitate to answer the question, saying, Mac Miller's estate is now "down" for the album to be released in the future.

As of this writing, a release date has yet to be announced.

Mac Miller Album Rumors Started Circulating in 2019

Just months after the musician passed away, there have been rumors circulating online about a possible posthumous album.

It all began when Miller's friend, Thelonius Martin, seemingly spoiled supporters that a collaborative album by the late rapper and Madlib called "Maclib" was in progress.

However, the producer debunked the claims by sharing an official statement, saying the record does not exist at the time and there were no plans to release the project in the future.

However, he later deleted his statement on his official website.

Mac Miller Death

On the morning of September 7, 2018, the musician's personal assistant found him unconscious at his home in Studio City. The PA immediately called 911 and performed CPR until rescuers arrived.

However, he was pronounced dead at the scene just a few minutes before noon.

Miller had many plans before his death as he was scheduled to film a music video that day and was about to go on tour later that year.

His cause of death was later determined as accidental drug overdose due to a "mixed drug toxicity."
