Is Drake shading Kim Kardashian and Kanye West in his new song?
The Canadian rapper shared a snippet of his new song, "Rescue Me," which caused a couple of eyebrows to raise after hearing a very familiar voice on the track.
According to reports, Drake's new song includes a sample of the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star talking about her divorce from Kanye West.
"I didn't come this far, just to come this far and not be happy. Remember that," the reality star once said during the finale of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" in 2021.
The sample being on the song was found to be ironic by some fans, especially since the song alludes to Drake announcing to the world that he is finally ready to settle down.
The snippet of the new song includes Drake switching between rapping and singing the following lines: "I need someone to be patient with me/Someone to get money, would not take it from me / They don't even need to be as famous as me / I don't think I meet 'em at the places I be / But deep down I think about you all day, mami."
Other lyrics of the song follow Drake singing about wishing that he would be rescued from his bachelor lifestyle: "Come and rescue me / Take me out the club, take me out the trap / Take me off the market, take me off the map / I'm tryna hit the group chat and tell 'em."
Kardashian-West Divorce
After six years of their marriage, Kardashian decided to part ways with her rapper ex-husband, which surprised a lot of fans.
The legal proceedings between the pair were long and arduous, especially since there are a lot of assets shared between the couple, as well as other issues like the custody of their children.
According to XXL magazine, the divorce was finally settled in March, with the judge ruling in favor of the reality star.
Sore Topic?
Perhaps the fans aren't over Kardashian and West's divorce, because when Drake released the "Rescue Me" preview, many rallied against him and demanded that he leave the couple-especially West alone.
According to reports, West's fans took to Twitter to air out their frustrations: "Why can't Drake just leave Kanye alone?"
"This delivery is so tired, beat sounds pretty generic. Also am I hearing it wrong or the whole song this dude is just calling for his mommy to come pick him up?"
"This man is so corny and lame."
None of the involved parties-Drake, Kardashian, and West-have commented on the song and the backlash it has received online.
