During an appearance on the "Jonathan Ross Show," which will broadcast this week, John Legend explained the origin of his stage name.

The 44-year-old singer, born John Roger Stephens, acquired the "legend" moniker in the early 2000s.

This week, he revealed that he shares the name with a renowned pornographer. Admitting that he negotiated a contract with Johnny Legend, the musician explained that he chose the moniker to "make a statement."

The American celebrity discussed his upcoming 10th wedding anniversary with wife Chrissy Teigen while conversing with presenter Jonathan. The adorable couple will return to Lake Como, where they wed in 2013, to commemorate the occasion.

Circa 2001, John was encouraged to acquire the surname 'legend' by musician Kanye West and poet J. Ivy, who claimed he sounded like 'one of the legends'.

He stated on the program at the time that his name is John Stevens but his friend began to refer to him as John Legend.

But as John prepared to release his first album under the new name, he realized that pornographer Johnny Legend already had it.

The singer continued by explaining that he had to negotiate an agreement in order to use it. A deal was negotiated and trademakc secured. He would always be John Legend and he would always be Johnny Legend, and their paths would never intersect.

John Legend Chrissy Teigen Relationship

As Jonathan questioned the "All Of Me" singer about his upcoming wedding anniversary with Chrissy, he divulged their plans for the occasion. He shared that they will return to Lake Como, the place where everything began.

They released the song 'All Of Me" that year. So it is also the 10th anniversary of it. He first performed it live at our wedding, he revealed. In January of this year, the couple welcomed Esti Maxine, the younger sibling of their 6-year-old daughter Luna Simone and 4-year-old son Miles Theodore.

During his appearance on a talk show, Jogn revealed that the two older children are vying for the title of "best older sibling." They appeared somewhat envious while mother was expectant.
