John Lydon chose to appear on "The Masked Singer US" in 2021 to satisfy his late wife Nora Forster, who passed away at the age of 80 after a five-year battle with Alzheimer's, the singer revealed on Thursday.

In an interview with Billboard shortly after his elimination from the competition in which he portrayed "The Jester," the 67-year-old Sex Pistols legend explained his decision to appear on the Fox reality show. It's quite tragic, the reason now.
John explained to the publication that he wanted to give his wife a 'great sense of fun' while watching the show because he believed she would be able to predict his identity based on the hints provided.
The singer, formerly known as Johnny Rotten, said that someone contacted his manager and they discussed it, and he thought it would be wonderful because his wife, who suffers from Alzheimer's, could have a lot of fun if she was able to figure out who it was.

He shared he and Nora have lived together for 47 years, so she must have some idea of who I am and what I'm capable of. John added that although he was unable to view the show with Nora at the time it was airing, they FaceTimed frequently.
He stated that he believes she did guess, as Nora was wearing a lovely pair of Jester gloves when he spoke with her via FaceTime and they were made for me.

The former frontman of Sex Pistols verified on Twitter that Nora passed away on Thursday after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease.
John has frequently discussed his role as a full-time caregiver for his wife, whom he has stated he has "always loved" and cannot exist without.
