The final Genesis performance was "bizarre" and "emotional," according to Mike Rutherford. It was saddening for its fans all over the world but for the band of course, they felt all sorts of emotions - including disbelief that this is indeed happening.
The prog rock titans, which also comprised Phil Collins and Tony Banks, gave their final performance at London's The O2 venue on March 26, 2022, and the co-founding member revealed that when he saw that there were only a few songs left to perform, it all started to sink in for him.
He shared that it was nice when everyone, including Peter Gabriel and Richard McPhail (tour manager from the 1970s), was in the dressing room after the show, in an interview with Classic Rock magazine.
However, he said that the performance itself felt strange to him. Up until I realized there were just four songs left on my setlist, he was in a good mood. He cried when I read that in print, but it felt amazing to finish the project after working out all the problems with Covid-19.
Mike, 72, does, still admit that their final tour, "The Last Domino?," was a "delight." He has forgotten a bit how essential music is to people's lives.

He shared that when they played two sold-out shows in an American city that they hadn't been to in thirty years, it felt good. It shows what a lovely scope Genesis had. He enjoyed their final tour immensely, despite some melancholy. It's a pleasure to perform with Phil and Tony every time.
Phil Collins' son Nic Collins will play drums for the musician's other band, Mike and The Mechanics, on tour while Gary Wallis receives medical attention.
On April 12, the tour kicks off in York. The 21-year-old drummer on the Genesis tour took over for his 72-year-old father, who had to recline to sing and play tambourine while in motion due to a spinal ailment in recent years.
Concord, one of the most reputable independent names in the music rights industry, made headlines in September 2022 when it purchased the rights to the band Genesis and three of its members, including Phil Collins, Tony Banks, and Mike Rutherford (as well as his other group Mike + the Mechanics).
