Jack White's live shows, especially on his latest tour, have been receiving great reviews. It's amazing that White is able to keep an engaging energy night after night, and now he is showing how dedicated a performer he really is.
After suffering what appears to be a seriously sprained ankle, White refused to postpone his Lazaretto tour even after his label pressured him to rest.
Third Man Records posted a photo to Instagram (via NME) yesterday showing White's bruised and swollen ankle. They say he injured himself while on stage the previous night at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Fransisco.
The sprain couldn't kill the music, however. So White took the stage for the second night of the two-night run.
"The camp is pressuring Jack to postpone the rest of the tour but Jack wants the show to go on tonight. See you tonight at the Bill Graham Civic," Third Man Records wrote.
White proceeded to play a 20-plus song setlist, which included a live solo debut of The White Stripes' "I Smell A Rat" as well as a number of covers.
One fan commented on White's performance last night, saying he performed up to his usual standards.
"You would not have known anything was wrong with the way Jack performed Saturday night," wrote @lizzieclapper. "What a trooper! Thanks for the dedication, Jack! Hope you are feeling better soon!"
No word on what White plans to do for the remainder of the tour, but he will probably need some rest.
