Arcade Fire is digging deep into some New York music history during their three-night stop at Brooklyn's Barclays Center.
Friday night, they brought David Johansen of the New York Dolls to play with them. Then, Saturday night, they brought out Marky Ramone of The Ramones for the encore, which featured "I Don't Wanna Go Down To The Basement" and "I Wanna Be Sedated."
Check out the performance:
Brooklyn Vegan reports that the band also did a short tribute to Talking Heads with a "Psycho Killer."
Television opens tonight's show, and AF has already promised more surprises.
Marky Ramone joined The Ramones when founding member Tommy Ramone left in 1978. Tommy was the last original member left before passing away earlier this summer.
The band's Facebook page posted this quote from Tommy after his passing:
"It wasn't just music in The Ramones: it was an idea. It was bringing back a whole feel that was missing in rock music - it was a whole push outwards to say something new and different. Originally it was just an artistic type of thing; finally I felt it was something that was good enough for everybody."
Arcade Fire have been paying homage to hometown artists at all of their Reflektor Tour stops, but Ramone's guest role was a true nod to Brooklyn's punk past.
