Lady Gaga has been appointed by U.S. President Joe Biden to do a significant thing for the government as announced online; what is the pop star's main role?
The President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities welcomes the singer, whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, as one of the co-chairs of the committee along with Bruce Cohen.
"We look forward to partnering to positively impact the arts, libraries, museums, and humanities work across the country," they wrote on their official Twitter account.
Lady Gaga then expressed her gratitude by quote-retweeting the post and simply writing, "Thank you @POTUS @PCAHgov."
What is the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities?
According to the White House's official website, the PCAH was founded in 1982 to "advise the President on cultural policy."
The President is the one who personally chooses the committee members which are mostly composed of prominent artists, philatropists, and scholars who had been dedicated to the arts and humanities.
Aside from Lady Gaga and Bruce Cohen as co-chairs, members include Jon Batiste, Constance M. Carroll, George Clooney, Philip J. Deloria, M. Angélica Garcia, Jennifer Garner, Nora Halpern, Steve Israel, Marta Kauffman, Ricky Krishner, Troy Kostur, Katie McGrath and many more.
Why Was Lady Gaga Chosen as Co-Chair of PCAH?
According to a description on the website, Lady Gaga as been known for working with the government several times in the past.
She was applauded for her philathropical works and her support to the LGBTQIA+ community throughout her career.
The academy award-winning singer previously teamed up with President Joe Biden for the "It's On Us" campaign to stop campus sexual assault. She had also been fighting for equality and a champion of mental health awareness.
Over the pandemic, the Grammy award-winning musician did her best to curate a virtual concert for the World Health Organization's COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund. The fundraising event was able to raise $128 million.
As of this writing, the musician and anyone from the government has yet to announce the pop star's first move as PCAH's co-chair.
Lady Gaga Almost Performed at the White House With BLACKPINK
The recent news comes after the musician was reportedly set to perform at the White House with global KPop phenomenon, BLACKPINK.
The "Shallow" hitmaker along with the girl group—consisting of Rosé, Lisa, Jennie, and Jisoo—was invited by First Lady Jil Biden at the state dinner.
However, the South Korean president was angered by the invitation, after not being informed by national security advisor Kim Sung-Han, leading him to resign from his position.
