Even during a costume emergency (and a surprising breakup), Taylor Swift is still stylish and cool.
Taylor Swift Wardrobe Malfunction
During her "Eras Tour" concert at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida (her first performance since announcing her separation from Joe Alwyn), the 12-time Grammy winner's garter broke during her performance of "Lavender Haze," which she later repaired during "Anti-Hero."
In a TikTok video uploaded by a fan account, Swift walks towards her backup vocalists and lifts the hem of her sequined Oscar de la Renta T-shirt dress to demonstrate that the belt around her leg had broken.
Swift, however, resolved the error with style. She is the Taylor Swift, after all.
After uttering a few words to the two women, she continues with her lines as the vocalists assist in detaching the garter from the dress and removing it. Swift simultaneously reached the point in the song with the lyric "I end up in crisis (tale as old as time)," to which she humorously nodded and raised her arm in the air.
Swift will return to the stadium stage on Thursday for the first time since news of her divorce with the Conversation with Friends actor broke earlier this month.
The singer greeted the audience between tracks by saying that they have a lot to catch up on.
On April 8, a source close to the couple claimed that Swift, 33, and Alwyn, 32, had ended their six-year relationship. Both Swift and Alwyn kept their relationship largely private.
A few days later, a source clarified that the split was not "dramatic" and was primarily due to "differences in their personalities."
Taylor Swift at Tampa's Tour
On the first of three evenings in Tampa, Swifties wore boots and cowboy hats of various hues, a nod to the country music roots of the singer. Some donned ringleader costumes suitable for a music video or goofy goggles that matched Swift's post-Lasik surgery glasses to become song characters or Swift herself. Dozens replicated the exact manicure Taylor Swift wore onstage, with each of her ten studio albums represented by a distinct color nail.
Almost everyone was adorned with glitter: stamped into hairstyles and fishnet tights, dangling from earrings, and liberally crusted on cheekbones, arms, and eyelids. If Swift is reeling from her recent breakup with Joe Alwyn, her six-year companion, she did not display it Thursday night.
She did not deviate significantly from the set list or performances she took to other cities. It appears that her transition from the love song "invisible string" to the separation song "The 1" is permanent. The setlist is only intended to vary by two songs per night, and fans even knew when the acoustic surprises would occur. As the night progressed in Tampa, the humidity caused the singer's previously straightened hair to revert to wavy tresses.
