Did Mark Sheehan died of cancer? Script fans were shocked to hear the band member has passed away after a "brief" illness and are naturally interested to find out what happened.

On April 14, the industry was shocked to find out that the guitarist of the Irish pop band The Script, Mark Sheehan, has died at the age of 46. Mark was a much-loved husband, father, brother, bandmate, and friend, according to a post on the band's social media platforms.

The guitarist has died, leaving behind his wife of 17 years and three children.

Prayers and condolences have been offered for his wife and other family members.

There is no distinct public information regarding his cause of death; however, a brief illness was mentioned. Some ended up speculating it could have been cancer, as such illness can be caught slow and kill fast.

The guitarist did not appear to have malignancy prior to his passing. No information regarding his illness has been disclosed to the public.

Mark was only 46 years old, so people have been inquisitive about his cause of death. Many of them expressed their condolences with the compliment, "Too soon gone."

Last year, Sheehan also went on a break. In hindsight, it could have been linked to this illness.

Last year, lead singer Danny O'Donoghue announced that Sheehan had taken time off from The Script's US tour to spend time with his family. "It's his story to tell, but yeah, I guess if I could paraphrase, his children needed a father and his wife needed a husband," the singer said. "He's been the engine of The Script for such a long time, [I told him] that 'if you want to take a bit of time out for your family you are more than welcome to, and I insist on you going and doing it'."

As additional details emerge, it is anticipated that more information about the cause of Sheehan's death will be revealed.

Sheehan was a gifted musician and guitarist who was well-known for his work with the Irish pop-rock group The Script. In 2001, he co-founded the group with his childhood companion Danny O'Donoghue and drummer Glen Power. With hits like "Breakeven," "The Man Who Can't Be Moved," and "Hall of Fame," the band went on to attain great success, selling over 20 million records worldwide.

Fans and critics hold Sheehan's contribution to the band's music in the highest regard. The music industry has suffered a significant loss with Mark's passing. Mark Sheehan was a member of the boyband Mytown, which was managed by Eamonn Maguire and contracted to Universal Records in New York prior to his success with The Script.

Sheehan, along with his Script bandmate Danny O'Donoghue, produced two tracks for the Peter André album "The Long Road Back" under the moniker M.A.D Notes prior to beginning their careers as musicians.

Early experiences in the music industry contributed to Sheehan's musical growth and development.

With a tweet, the band's label Sony Music paid tribute to Sheehan.

"We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Mark Sheehan - a hugely talented songwriter, guitarist and founder member of The Script, one of Ireland's greatest bands," it wrote. "Our thoughts are with his family, fellow band members and fans at this time."

Laura Whitmore, a former Love Island presenter, was among the celebrities who commented on Sheehan's death on Instagram. Hozier, a fellow Irish hitmaker, expressed his admiration for The Script on Instagram.
