The list of performers for King Charles III's coronation was finally announced and it would be featuring two of the biggest artists in the world from different generations. The news, however, came on the heels, after several British artists passed on the opportunity to perform - including Adele, Harry Styles, and even Ed Sheeran.
King Charles Coronation Concert Performers
In a report from People Magazine, Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Andrea Bocelli, all of which are not of British or English descent, have been named as the main performers of King Charles' Coronation Concert.
The BBC announced that the King Charles Coronation Concert, taking place on May 7, 2023, which is a day after the official crowning of King Charles and Queen Camilla - will feature three main artists on the lineup.
Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and world-renowned singer and songwriter Lionel Richie will be taking the stage as well as pop music icon Katy Perry. Both artists are current judges on "American Idol." Another artist who will be playing on the main stage is Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli, who has recently announced his tour in the United States and Europe.
Perry and King Charles have previously worked before as the former is an ambassador to the British Asian Trust, which is a charity that the royal has co-founded in 2020. Richie, on the other hand, has been appointed as the First Global Ambassador and First Chairman of the Global Ambassador Group for The Prince's Trust in 2019.
"The concert will celebrate a new chapter in the nation's history, with themes of love, respect and optimism, celebrating the four nations, their communities and the Commonwealth," the BBC said in a statement as quoted by Billboard.

No British Acts in King Charles Coronation Concert?
In the past few months, it has been reported by several publications that prominent British acts like Adele, Harry Styles, Ed Sheeran, and even The Spice Girls were being tapped by the Royals to perform at the King Charles Coronation Concert.
However, it seemed like all of them had passed, citing scheduling conflicts. The Spice Girls, who have long been convinced to reunite, seemed that they could not come to an agreement despite the Royal ask.
Meanwhile, the BBC has announced that a few British acts were also announced in support of Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Andrea Bocelli's main performance. This includes Take That, Bryn Terfel, Freya Ridings, and Alex Ffrench.
