Halsey has made a huge move in her career, leaving her label of many years - Capitol Records. The move came almost a year after she publicly campaigned to convince the label to release one of her songs she had convinced them to do so.

Based on the statement from Capitol Records, Halsey's departure posed questions for fans who have long been supporting the singer.

Why Did Halsey Leave Her Label?

According to a statement sent to Billboard by Halsey's team, the publication confirmed the departure of the "If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power" singer from their roster of artists.

"After eight great years the decision to leave Capitol is bittersweet, but we are excited about exploring a new partnership and sharing new music with fans," a representative from Halsey said in a statement to the publication.

While the statement seemed to be very plain and straightforward, there might have been something to unmask in the description of her departure. Coined as "bittersweet," fans were interested in what the "bittersweet" ending Halsey and Capitol had.

Capitol Records, on the other hand, was straightforward and optimistic about Halsey's career too, saying that they "poured" their hearts and souls to help the singer achieve her dreams and let her music be heard around the world.

"We are incredibly proud of all we accomplished together, and wish Halsey the very best in all their future endeavors," they added.

As of this writing, it is not known whether she left out of a prior disagreement or her contract just expired, or terminated.

Halsey 'So Good' Issue Explained

In 2022, Halsey called out Capitol Records, claiming that they refused to release her single "So Good" because it does not have a TikTok campaign that would mobilize it.

TikTok has recently been used by artists and labels alike to reach a huge number of people. The platform has since been instrumental in the success of many songs in streaming and radio airplay, which has led to the debut, peaking, and resurgence of many songs in the Billboard charts.

Following the refusal, Halsey became more frustrated as the song was postponed. She took her frustrations on Instagram and attracted a lot of support from her fans.

Eventually, "So Good" was released as a non- album single almost a month after.

Her Grammy-nominated album, "If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power," is her latest and last offering from the label.

It is not known yet where Halsey will sign next.
