During the annual CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Rihanna made a surprise appearance to announce that she was cast to voice the role of Smurfette in the upcoming live-action hybrid of "The Smurfs Movie."
"I tried to get the Papa Smurf role but It didn't work out," the "Lift Me Up" singer joked.
In addition to the exciting new project coming her way, Rihanna also revealed that she will also be producing the movie.
Of course, that also means that the singer will be the one who will provide some songs for its soundtrack-so fans would not have to feel too sad about the impending album that they have been begging her for.
'The Smurfs Movie'
This is not the first time Rihanna is working on a film, as she has established herself to be a multi-talented queen in the realms of music and acting.
According to reports, the last time the singer has lent her voice in an animated feature was "Home," which was released in 2015, in which she worked alongside Jim Parsons and Jennifer Lopez. "Home" grossed over $380 million at the worldwide box office.
Aside from animated movies, Rihanna has also been casted in several live-actions like "Ocean's 8," "Guava Island," "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets," "This is the End," and "Battleship."
Fans React
Despite being thrilled for the "We Found Love" singer, fans are, understandably, distraught that she decided to produce a movie instead of recording a new album.
"Queen of doing anything that it takes to not have to record her new album," a fan wrote.
"Y'all never getting that album. I'm crying," another added.
However, other fans seems to be perfectly fine with the pace that Rihanna is at in terms of her comeback to the industry.
"This is so major. I can't wait," a fan wrote.
'Oh, she's going to be the best VA for Smurfette ever," another added.
It seems like the singer is doing everything and anything under the sun that does not really have anything to do with her supposed-upcoming album.
According to Capital FM, between giving birth to her first child, being currently pregnant with her second, her blockbuster NFL Superbowl Halftime Show performance, and her highly successful beauty and lifestyle brand, Fenty, it seems like there is so much on Rihanna's plate right now.
That doesn't mean, however, that she has given up on music altogether. During an interview, Rihanna said "I'm excited to actually put new music out, but I don't have any updates for you on that yet."
