Taylor Swift's fans are going crazy on social media after the singer reportedly took down an Instagram reel of herself explaining the story behind her hit single "Lavender Haze."
Some eagle-eyed fans also took notice when Swift removed the link for the music video of the song, and replaced it with her website.
Some suspect that it might have something to do with her break up with Joe Alwyn, which came to light a few weeks back.
'Lavender Haze'
The song "Lavender Haze" is the first track on Swift's recently released album, "Midnights," and according to the singer herself, it is a song that was inspired by a line that she heard from the series "Mad Men."
"I happened upon the phrase 'Lavender Haze' when I was watching Mad Men and I looked it up because I thought it sounded cool," the singer explained in the now-deleted Instagram reel. "It turns out that it was a common phrase that was used in the '50s where they would just describe being in love."
"Like, If you were in the 'Lavender Haze,' that meant you were in that all-encompassing love glow, and I thought that was really beautiful."
According to Capital FM, the song tackles several themes that involve Swift's personal love life which is heavily guarded.
Relationship
No one really knows what happens behind the closed doors of the "Anti-Hero" singer's love life, especially after being targeted by the media for being a "serial dater."
"I've been under scrutiny (yeah, oh, yeah)/ You handle it beautifully (yeah, oh, yeah)/ All this s**t is new to me (yeah, oh, yeah)."
Throughout her six-year relationship with Joe Alwyn, Swift has kept a lot close to her chest, and the actor has done likewise, but it did not stop people from speculating about their relationship.
"My relationship for six years we've had to dodge weird rumors, tabloid stuff and we just ignore it," Swift said. "So this song is just sort of about the act of ignoring that stuff to protect the real stuff."
"All they keep askin' me (all they keep askin' me)/ Is if I'm gonna be your bride/ The only kind of girl they see (only kind of girl they see)/ Is a one-night or a wife."
Now that the pair have reportedly broken up, paired with the singer taking down some things linked to "Lavender Haze," people can't help but wonder if their split was as "amicable" as the sources say.
