Mariah Carey might finally take another step toward the prestigious EGOT status.
Out of thousands of artists across the globe, only 18 entertainers currently have the EGOT status. They scored the title after earning awards from Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony.
Carey, despite winning several major achievements, is yet to land on the list. But she recently got a chance to take a step soon with her first-ever Tony nomination.
Mariah Carey Scores 1st Tony Award Nomination
Rolling Stone confirmed Carey's latest feat as her Broadway debut, the stage adaptation of "Some Like It Hot," scored a nomination for Best Musical at the upcoming 2023 awards ceremony.
The "All I Want For Christmas Is You" hitmaker served as a producer of the show, which garnered a total of 13 nominations. The number made it secure the top spot on the nominees' list during the 2023 Tony Award nominations presentation Tuesday.
Aside from "Best Musical," the Carey-produced show is also up to win Best Direction of a Musical, Best Book of a Musical, and Best Original Score, among others.
"To see how this show continues to expand on the film's legacy - pushing boundaries, promoting inclusion, celebrating diversity - I'm proud to help bring Some Like It Hot for today's world to new audiences," the female crooner previously told Entertainment Tonight.

Carey celebrated the milestone by sharing a post from "Some Like It Hot" musical's official Instagram page to her Instagram Story in which she congratulated the cast and crew of the show.
If "Some Like It Hot" wins the Tony for Best Musical, it would make Carey halfway to her EGOT status. As of press time, she has already won five Grammys out of her 34 total nominations.
Meanwhile, she is yet to reach winning Oscar and Emmy awards, though her "Mariah Carey's Magical Christmas Special" previously scored Emmy nominations for Outstanding Contemporary Makeup for a Variety, Nonfiction or Reality Program (Non-Prosthetic).
On the other hand, Carey's name has not appeared at the Oscars despite starring in several notable films, including "The Butler."
Mariah Carey Gets Another Honor
While Carey is yet to have an EGOT status, she reached another feat after her hit Christmas song "All I Want for Christmas Is You" was officially inducted into the Library of Congress Registry.
The 54-year-old expressed her gratitude in April after learning about the honor. Aside from her 1994 Christmas anthem, 24 other tracks received the same recognition this year, including Madonna's "Like a Virgin," John Lennon's "Imagine," Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven," and Irene Cara's "Flashdance... What a Feeling."
