Over the past few months, Ed Sheeran made headlines after reports circulated online about him turning down Buckingham Palace's offer to perform at King Charles III's coronation concert. Today, the singer is ready to speak his truth about what truly happened.
According to Yahoo! News, the "Shape of You" hitmaker recently dropped by SiriusXM's "The Morning Mash Up" show to explain why he, one of the biggest British stars in the world, didn't perform at the biggest event in royal family history.
"I want to clear something up actually, because there was loads of stuff in the press that I turned down the coronation," he said, later adding that he wasn't even invited in the first place.
Sheeran added that if the press went online and searched what he was doing on May 6, they would see that he has a concert in Dallas, Texas, but instead, they went on to report a "negative story of loads of people" turning down the invitation to perform at the event.
Regarding his thoughts about the newly-crowned monarch's coronation, the musician said he was excited to tune in because "it's historic."
