Aside from making music, The Weeknd has also been busy working on his HBO series "The Idol," and after months of waiting, fans will finally get a chance to watch it starting next month.
More recently, the "Save Your Tears" hitmaker revealed in an interview that his transition into the world of film and television affected his decisions about the future of his music career; is he retiring from making songs?
Speaking with W Magazine, the R&B star said he's currently at his "cathartic path" when it comes to his creativity and he's gearing up to "close" his chapter under his moniker.
"I'm going through a cathartic path right now. It's getting to a place and a time where I'm getting ready to close the Weeknd chapter," he said. (via The Fader)
He later clarified that he would still make music, but under his real name, Abel Tesfaye. He's also unsure if he would still use his The Weeknd moniker as he wanted to "kill" it.
One of the main reasons why he wanted his stage name to not be associated with him anymore is because he wanted to "shed that skin and be reborn."

Speaking about his next musical project, the Canadian singer said there will be an official soundtrack for "The Idol" that he sang and produced.
For those who are curious about what his new music would sound like, the "Blinding Lights" hitmaker revealed that it was inspired by Prince and Pink Floyd.
Fans finally got a taste of his next musical era as he released "Double Fantasy" last month with Future.
