Dave Matthews To Play Carnegie Hall During ‘Twenty Years of Freedom’ Special

Following word that he'll be standing up to cancer by playing on the televised SU2C event this coming Sept. 5, musician Dave Matthews will also reportedly be playing at Carnegie Hall on Oct. 10, according to JamBands.

The Dave Matthews Band frontman's performance will be in line with the special Twenty Years of Freedom, where he will join the likes of South African musicians Hugh Masekela and Vusi Mahlasela on the stage.

As the publication notes, the special prides itself on being a celebration of democracy and the end of Apartheid in South Africa –– Matthews' native country.

The "Mercy" singer was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, before relocating to Charlottesville, Virginia, and starting up the now-famous Dave Matthews Band.

Looks as if we here at Music Times aren't the only ones excited about the event. DMB (or whoever runs their Twitter account) recently tweeted out a notice about the event, which Carnegie Hall happily retweeted.

Matthews' Oct. 10 appearance won't be the first time he's sharing the stage with both Masekela and Mahlasela. During his recent tour with DMB, Matthews invited the two onstage with them during various evenings. He's also done so during the band's past tours.

Tickets to the Carnegie Hall show are now available here.
