A romance that once held much promise has now ended in an acrimonious split between Cher and her music producer, Alexander "AE" Edwards.

According to the source who spoke to Radar Online, it's now blatantly apparent that her former partner was using her as a suitable means of raising his profile all along.

They went on to say that, to add insult to injury, AE is now publicly declaring they were never even engaged.

After thoughtful consideration, the 77-year-old renowned artist ended her relationship with the 37-year-old music producer. Reports indicate that AE's authoritative nature in the studio made her feel uneasy, thus leading to her decision.

The outlet further reported that AE, born long after Sonny & Cher's reign of the 1960s, has taken to bossing around younger artists in the recording studio - much to their dismay. One source noted, "Things didn't go well when he started barking orders."

The tension between the Oscar-winning actress and her two older sons, Chaz Bono (54) and Elijah Blue (46), had reportedly increased due to their suspicions that a hotshot producer wanted to get his hands on their fortune.

Sources claimed that Cher's relationship with her boys was not in its best state.

When the relationship was still in its prime, reports surfaced that Cher was livid with her kids.

She was allegedly willing to disown them altogether. Her resolve to wed AE has been unwavering, and had been consulting her lawyers about leaving him as the sole receiver of her will.

Following the loss of her mother, Georgia Holt, in December, the relationship between the unusual couple had intensified. People close to the once-couple noticed that AE presented Cher with a dazzling diamond ring only a few months into their romance.

Rumors have it that the singer was the one who put out money for this jewelry.

In an unexpected turn of events, it has been revealed by an informant that they suspect pop star Cher's former flame was only after her influence in the music industry.

His sudden downward spiral began when he stopped visiting her lavish $85 million Malibu property, ceasing all communication and no longer seeming to be attracted to her.

An informant relayed that Cher and the other party disagreed, eventually deciding to go their separate ways.

It was further revealed that any former notion of collaboration on musical projects has now been put to rest. The rumor about them not being engaged is being circulated as an alleged part of damage control efforts.
