John Farnham's family released a new update regarding the singer's health status.

Five weeks after Farnham was discharged from the hospital, there had been rumors suggesting that the singer was already critically ill. His family, meanwhile, released a new update to share his current health condition and dismiss the rumors.

John Farnham's Health Update

On Monday, Farnham's family penned a new statement confirming that the singer had already recovered from the chest infection he suffered that led to his hospitalization in March.

"We're pleased to say that John made a full recovery from a recent chest infection in late March, which required hospitalization," the family said, per Billboard, adding, "[John Farndham] is now comfortable and continues to receive ongoing treatment and rehabilitation care."

The confirmation put the rumors about Farnham's "deteriorating health" to rest. 7News Australia reported that the false update regarding the singer's worsening status started after multiple sources claimed so.

The news outlet cited Sunrise's entertainment editor Peter Ford's message on Monday, saying that the family's statement was released to dismiss the rumors that Farnham's health "took a turn for the worst."

Amid the worrying claims, Farnham's family has since assured the public regarding his recovery after undergoing successful surgery. They also expressed their gratitude and respect to the medical staff who took care of the "You're The Voice" singer.

What Happened to John Farnham?

The 73-year-old singer sparked worries in March when he was admitted to a hospital due to a chest infection. His family said Farnham had to undergo treatment, care, and rehabilitation for his respiratory infection. Meanwhile, the singer's wife, Jill, applauded her husband's resilience amid the health issues.

To support Farnham's recovery, his fans created a purpose-built website where the public could leave well-wishes. The project was authorized by his family before the launch.

The latest health issue occurred seven months after he underwent a 12-hour surgery involving 12 surgeons to remove a cancerous growth in his mouth.

His son, Rob, told A Current Affair that the patriarch started having trouble sleeping. Farnham reportedly loves to sleep on his side where a lump suddenly grew on his cheek.

When Jill noticed it, it reportedly prompted the family to have it checked by a dentist. However, the dentist referred him to someone who knew more about the case.

According to Rob, what they thought to be a mouth ulcer was actually cancerous. The case worried the family, but it never made them think about whether he would sing again because of the health issue.
