Earlier this month, G-Unit's 50 Cent, Young Buck, and Kidd Kidd dropped the Michael Brown-inspired track "Ahhh Sh*t." Now they've released a video for it, which features clips of random footage of police brutality and protests as well as some of the song's lyrics.
Young Buck recently added a protest shirt to his merchandise with the words "With Our Hands Up We Still Getting' Shot" over a crosshair image with an outline of hands held up. According to 50 Cent's YouTube page, all proceeds from the shirt will go to Michael Brown's memorial fund.
The track also makes mention of Eric Garner, the man who New York police apprehended, put in a chokehold, brought to the ground and killed last month, as well as Trayvon Martin, who was fatally shot by George Zimmerman in 2012. The TM 808 Mafia-produced track features samples of news coverage and dialogue between police and civilians.
"Now why the f**k did you call them cops? (Ahhh sh*t) / Put your hands up you still getting shot (Ahhh sh*t) / Here they come now, they out on patrol (Ahhh sh*t) / They killed a few, they finna killa some more," they sing on the hook.
The first verse references the Brown shooting.
"Walked in here on that bullshit/ I been turnt up all day bustin' shots," Buck raps. "Ever since Mike Brown went down my whole city like 'f**k a cop'."
The group dropped their EP, The Beauty of Independence late Sunday night, following the MTV Video Music Awards without warning. The six-track EP is the group's first release since 2008's T.O.S: Terminate On Sight.
