Are John 5, Mick Mars on Good Terms Amid Legal Battle With Motley Crue?

John 5 and Mick Mars reportedly have a different relationship amid the latter's legal battle against Motley Crue.

When Mars announced his touring retirement due to health reasons in October, Motley Crue decided to move forward with John 5 as its new guitarist. However, although Mars clarified he would still make music with the band, his bandmates opted to have John 5 in its upcoming album.

Despite Motley Crue and Mars' legal showdown, John 5 recently clarified that he and the guitarist have a "great respect for each other." He revealed that, in fact, Mars reached out to him when he was announced as the new guitarist.

John 5 marked his first-ever interview since joining Motley Crue recently, sitting down for a conversation on SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation" (via Ultimate Classic Rock & Culture). He revealed that he and Mars talk all the time amid the lawsuit.

"We exchange Christmas gifts and things like that. When I was announced as the guitar player, he was one of the very first texts I got," he revealed, adding, "He said, 'You're going to kill it.' It's good, because it's not like some stranger coming in. We have a great respect for each other."

He shared his thoughts about their relationship as Mars continues to fight Motley Crue after the band reportedly gaslighted him and removed him from the group. He filed a lawsuit against the band amid its alleged attempt to rip him off financially.

On the other hand, Motley Crue members defended themselves, with Nikki Sixx suggesting that Mars' manager and legal team have been manipulating him,

Mars' lawsuit against Motley Crue is yet to reach development, but the band still focuses on making its new album.


On Twitter, Sixx shared a new update regarding the band's new record, calling it the "heaviest stuff" they have ever done in years. He also shared on Instagram the process of making the new Motley Crue album and how it made him feel personal.

According to Sixx, he already wrote one song as Bob Rock pushes the members to bring out the best in them. Meanwhile, he hyped fans by saying that Tommy Lee's drums sound huge and that he would give it the final bass tracks in the next few days.
