Throughout his career, Ed Sheeran is known for releasing pop bangers mixed with his signature acoustic guitar sounds. With songs like "Shape of You," "Thinking Out Loud," and more, fans would expect the singer's sound to be the same for his next albums.
However, in a recent interview, the musician revealed that he wanted to venture out into a completely different genre; is he switching sounds soon?
Speaking with Billboard, the "Galway Girl" hitmaker said he would love to "transition into country" and he talks about this to his wife all the time.
Why Ed Sheeran Loves Country Music
The main reason why he wanted to explore the genre is because of the culture surrounding it as well as the songwriting behind its brilliant songs.
The outlet noted that the pop singer lived in Nashville, which is known to be the country music capital, in the past, and during his time in the city, he became inspired by some of the local songwriters around.
"It's like a community. There's not really a place in Europe where you could point and say, 'That's the home of songwriting,'" he explained.

In addition to living in the city in 2013 and 2018, the English singer has Taylor swift to credit to for making him listen to the genre as he never listened to country music until he became a part of the pop star's "Red" tour.
