Initial results for Ben Affleck's two new films have been, at best, uneven, given that one of them has been a major box office flop. Meanwhile, everything seems to be the opposite for Jennifer Lopez, leading some to wonder if this can be the very reason why Affleck and Lopez' supposed trouble in paradise will end up in a serious split.

With her two new films, Jennifer Lopez, Affleck's wife, appears to be prospering in the streaming industry.

"Hypnotic" (2023), the most recent film starring Ben Affleck to be released in theaters, has been a significant box office disappointment for fans.

The science fiction action thriller directed by Robert Rodriguez and released in theaters on May 12 grossed $940,000 on its opening day from just over 2,100 theaters and, at last count, $2.4 million worldwide.

"Hypnotic," which is distributed by two independent production companies, Ketchup Entertainment and Relativity Media, has a budget of $65 million and has received less-than-stellar reviews. The film's prospects for earning a profit are bleak. Good news for Affleck and his other new film, Air, in which he directed and co-stars with Matt Damon.

The Amazon Prime production had a limited theatrical release in the United States beginning on April 5 and grossed approximately $86.3 million by the time it premiered on Amazon's streaming service on May 12. The production of the biographical sports drama film reportedly cost approximately $90 million, so with the initial earnings from its limited theatrical release, it has almost already broken even.

Since then, Air has become the most popular film and television program on Amazon Prime worldwide, topping its Top 10 chart for May 14. The early success could be partially attributed to the generally favorable evaluations it has received from critics. Jennifer Lopez appears to have boasting rights at home regarding her two new films compared to her husband's, although the comparisons are not equal.

Jlo's audience for "The Mother" and "Shogun Wedding" consists exclusively of home viewers. "The Mother," helmed by Niki Caro and premiering on Netflix on May 12, has received conflicting reviews from critics. According to MaxBlizz, the action thriller, which is not typically the genre associated with Jennifer Lopez, is currently the most popular film on Netflix in 83 countries. Shotgun Wedding, a film directed by Jason Moore and released on Amazon Prime on January 27, has also performed well with viewers.

Amazon Prime Video recorded the highest monthly utilization growth in January, with a 9.3% increase in viewing due to Amazon's Shotgun Wedding and its original series Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan. And while the news is positive for Lopez and her two new films, it is still difficult to determine how they have affected Netflix and Amazon Prime Video's bottom line.

Meanwhile, several days before red carpet photographers captured them arguing at a recent event, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez were observed engaging in an apparent "tense" conversation. Earlier this month, Affleck and Lopez were spotted traveling around Beverly Hills in the actor-director's black SUV, according to photos and videos obtained by DailyMail.com.

The "Argo" actor, who was driving, wound down his window and gesticulated with his hands while speaking to the Grammy nominee. During the exchange, Affleck appeared "frustrated or irritated," while Lopez appeared "reserved" and "a little bit sad," according to the tourist who captured the photos and videos.
