Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley had bad impressions of one another in the past, but the former still attempted to save the King of Rock and Roll years before his death.

Before Sinatra and Presley became the center of the industries in the 1960s, the duo publicly spoke about their bad blood against each other. But things changed when they hit the charts in the 1960s, and both of them became chart-topping musicians.

The friendship also witnessed how the late "My Way" hitmaker tried to save Presley two years before his death.

Frank Sinatra Attempted To Save Elvis Presley

In August 1975, Presley was admitted to a hospital due to liver problems worsened by his heavy drug use. The incident led his friends and family to worry about his life, with Sinatra immediately calling the medical facility to "save" The King.

As reported by Express UK, Tom Jones' friend and publicity man Chris Hitchens revealed that Sinatra once told him he tried to save Presley.

"When I called the hospital in Memphis, the girl on the switchboard asked: Who's calling?' and when I replied: 'Frank Sinatra' I fully expected her to say: 'Oh, yeah, and I'm the Queen of England"'or some such dumb line," Sinatra reportedly said, per Hitchens. "But she must have recognized my voice because, a few seconds later, Elvis came on the line."

Sinatra said he told The King to look after himself and quit "fooling around." The late singer also voiced to the rocker that he was too young to die.

However, Presley was found dead at the age of 42 two years after his admission.

The "Strangers In the Night" crooner paid tribute to him upon hearing the news, expressing how much he would miss his "warm, generous, and considerate" friend.

How Did Frank Sinatra Die?

The music industry lost another big name when the legendary singer died of a heart attack in Los Angeles on May 14, 1998. He was 82.

One month before his passing, his wife Barbara dismissed the rumors that he was on his deathbed. She slammed the tabloids through her interview with Las Vegas Sun and assured fans he was doing well.

However, a month after the interview, Sinatra passed away with his close friend Tony Oppedisano and his wife Barbara beside him. Oppedisano revealed to Mirror recalled seeing the singer struggling to speak because of his breathing, before hearing him say his last words, "I'm losing."
