Skid Row canceled its scheduled Brisbane concert after its singer, Erik Grönwall, suddenly fell ill.
Grönwall celebrated his first-year anniversary with Skid Row in January after joining the band in 2022. He previously played with H.E.A.T before leaving the group in 2020.
Amid his fruitful journey with Skid Row, he and the band had been forced to cancel its Wednesday show.
Skid Row Cancels Brisbane Concert
On Skid Row's official Facebook page, the band confirmed the postponement of its show at The Triffid in Brisbane, Australia after Grönwall suffered a health issue.
Per the post, the singer woke up feeling sick on Wednesday morning. During the soundcheck, he started losing his voice and feeling the effects of the flu.
"He will see a doctor first thing tomorrow and expects that it will be all systems go for Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne," the band continued. "We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and want you to know we are as disappointed as all of you."
Skid Row's Brisbane tour was part of the band's four-date Australian tour. It was initially scheduled in December, but guitarist Dave "Snake" Sabo's neck surgery led the band to reschedule the dates this year.
The May 2023 Australian tour marked the first time Skid Row returned to the country after its 2018 shows. The four-dated show, The Gang's All Here Tour, was supposed to begin on the now-canceled show.
It remains unknown whether the next dates will be affected, but below are the original dates of Skid Row's tour:
May 17 - The Triffid, Brisbane
May 19 - Manning Bar, Sydney
May 20 - Bridgeway, Adelaide
May 21 - 170 Russell, Melbourne
Grönwall scored the position in January 2022, years after he turned people's heads when he sang Skid Row's "18 and Life" during his 2009 audition in the competition show, "Swedish Idol." He released a cover version of the track in September 2021.
Erik Grönwall's Health Issues
Before his recent health issue, Erik Grönwall went through health battles after he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. The musician initially felt tired in March 2021, prompting his wife to ask him to seek a doctor's advice.
While he thought he had COVID, his doctor soon told him he needed to go to the emergency room due to his diagnosis.
In August 2021, he started recovering after undergoing a life-saving bone marrow transplant. One year later, he announced that he was already cancer-free.
