Due to her past controversies, Miley Cyrus carried "guilt and shame" for "years."

In an interview published on Thursday for the June 2023 issue of British Vogue, the "Flowers" singer discussed some of her most controversial performances, such as when she twerked onstage with Robin Thicke at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.

Miley questioned whether she deserved to be so "harshly judged" in light of the backlash though.

She stated that she has carried guilt and shame for years because of how much controversy and distress she has caused. But when she grown into an adult, she became aware of how severely she was evaluated. As a child, she was judged harshly by adults, and as an adult, she recognized that she would never judge a child harshly.

In addition, Miley insisted that she is not a "attention-seeking person" and that she was simply trying to distance herself from her image as an adolescent idol and the character she portrayed on the Disney Channel series Hannah Montana.

She said she gained attention by distancing myself from a character she had previously portrayed. Everyone between the ages of 20 and 21 has more to prove. She added that she is who she is.

Miley Cyrus has been renowned for longer than the majority of Generation Z has existed. The thirty-year-old singer has been a Disney Channel star, a child idol, an adult pop celebrity, and virtually every other label imaginable.

This has presented its own set of unique pleasures and challenges, but it appears she is now prepared to enter a new, much more relaxed and low-key phase of her career.

In this interview with British Vogue - her first and only significant interview since the release of her eighth studio album Endless Summer Vacation - she revealed that she may be ready to retire from touring for the foreseeable future.

Cyrus told the magazine's feature editor Giles Hattersley that she may be done with the public-facing aspects of being a pop star for the time being, including undertaking months-long, intensive tours.

In 2014, Cyrus performed across North, Central, and South America, Europe, and Australia as part of her final extensive headlining tour in support of her 2013 album "Bangerz."

She played only eight U.S. shows for her 2015 album Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz, and only music festivals as part of her 2018 Attention tour. It comes out that the singer's attitude toward performing for large crowds has changed. She told Hattersly that singing in front of hundreds of thousands of people is not really her thing. She finds it lacking in intimacy.

It makes sense; the singer has, in recent years, primarily abandoned the fan-courting machine that being a pop star necessitates. She did almost no press in advance of Endless, opting instead to announce her singles and album via personal social media posts. The majority of her promotional efforts for "Plastic Hearts" consisted of performing on morning and late-night talk programs, covering other artists' songs while playing her own.

She is currently journaling, hanging out with friends, working out, and spending time with her boyfriend Maxx Morando.
