Broadway nerds and Ariana Grande fans have been at a standstill, debating whether it was actually Ariana Grande or Kristin Chenoweth singing on the leaked "Wicked" movie snippet of the musical's opening number.
Some said that it was Chenoweth's original broadway cast recording blasted on the set's stereo that everyone would be following, while others were convinced it was really Ari's.
'Wicked' Movie 'No One Mourns The Wicked' Video
Earlier this April 2023, the internet was shocked to see various "Wicked" movie leaks. Among the first material that graced the world wide web was Ariana Grande's photos in the iconic pink dress that Glinda the Good Witch wore in the 1939 movie.
Shortly after, a video of Grande and what seemed to be people from Munchkinland and Oz congregated at the town square, celebrating and performing the musical's opening song, and possibly the movie's too.
"No One Mourns The Wicked" is "Wicked's" opening song, a number that joyously celebrates the death of the Wicked Witch of the West as Glinda tells the good news to the people of Oz.
In the leaked "No One Mourns The Wicked" video, a portion of the song can be heard. However, fans were debating if it was Ariana Grande or Kristin Chenoweth whose vocals can be heard – saying that Ari was only lip-synching to Chenoweth's version.

Was It Ariana Grande or Kristin Chenoweth?
According to an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Kristin Chenoweth "cracked up" upon hearing the song as she knew it was her - asking people how did they think it was her.
Well, they do sound very much alike, Chenoweth admitted.
"We are very similar and we have been her whole life, and then when we talk on the phone we sound like dolphins," she continued. "I know that she has been diligently working on that vocal and she can sing anything, and I'm so proud of her."
Asked if she had visited the set in the United Kingdom already, Chenoweth expressed her openness to doing so in the near future.
"Wicked" is set to be released theatrically in November 2024. Directed by Jon M. Chu, the highly-anticipated movie musical will be split into two, with Part 2, to be released on November 2025.
Ariana Grande plays Glinda the Good opposite Cynthia Erivo's Elphaba. Jonathan Bailey plays Fiyero, Michelle Yeoh plays Madame Morrible, and Jeff Goldblum was cast as the Wizard of Oz.
