Due to the controversy over the unreleased Barbie soundtrack, Dua Lipa teased her premiere song from "Barbie: The Album," called "Dance The Night," on Monday.
The 146.3 million-strong social media following of the 27-year-old pop singer announced that the song would be released at midnight on Friday.
Dua mimicked the scene in the Barbie trailer where Margot Robbie, the song's producer and star, removed her pink marabou heels to reveal that her feet were still in pointe position.
After that, Lipa gave the background camera a kiss as a clip of her disco-pop song started to play.
In the Warner Bros. Pictures film, which will be released in the US and the UK on July 21, the British-Albanian singer will also make her acting debut.
Four days prior to Dua's disclosure, Alice Glass teased "Barbie: The Album," which also included her gothic rendition of Aqua's 1997 hit parody "Barbie Girl."
In place of Aqua's well-known Danish pop song, the teaser used The Beach Boys' 1964 classic Fun Fun Fun, which infuriated fans. However, Aqua frontwoman Lene Nystrm told Variety on April 29 that "it was a mistake." The song won't be featured in the movie.
"Barbie: The Album" is rumored to include songs by Taylor Swift, Ava Max, Britney Spears, Iggy Azalea, and Charli XCX.
The $100 million comedy was directed and co-written by three-time Oscar nominee Greta Gerwig and her baby daddy, Noah Baumbach. Oscar winner Helen Mirren served as the narrator for the first live-action Barbie movie.
