Rotten Tomatoes Explained
According to Rotten Tomatoes, shows are ranked in three classifications.
If the content received a Tomatometer score of a red Yomato, that means that the content received at least 60% positive reviews from critics, indicating a fresh status. If the content received a Tomatometer score of a green splat, that means the content received less than 60% positive reviews from critics, indicating a rotten status. If the content received a Tomatometer score of "Certified Fresh," that means the content is best-reviewed by critics.
As for "The Idol" opening to a 9% score meant that the show only received 9% positive reviews from critics.
Lily Rose-Depp Defends 'The Idol' Reviews
Speaking to the press about the critical reviews of "The Idol," lead actress Lily-Rose Depp defended the show which has been likened to pornography.
"Jocelyn is a born and bred performer - and I think that extends to every aspect of her life, not just her professional life. The way that she dresses, for example, is her trying to tell you something all the time... or express herself in some kind of way," she eloquently explained. "I also think that the occasional bareness of the character physically mirrors the bareness that we get to see emotionally in her."
"The Idol" hits HBO on Jun. 4, 2023.
