Tina Turner's hometown is planning to honor the legendary singer following her recent death.

Turner left the music industry in deep shock after reports about her death emerged. Singers, colleagues, and fans continuously paid tribute to her, and her hometown now wants to have a permanent memorial for the late crooner.

Tina Turner To Be Remembered in Tennessee

Brownsville, Tennessee Mayor Bill Rawls Jr. told a news outlet that the city plans to pay respect to Turner and remember her through a statue in the area.

Mayor Rawls told a news outlet that they already opened the talks to erect the work of art, and local leaders already sent their support to the project.

"When Tina stepped on stage, she owned it. We want this statue to represent that passion. Tina was an inspiration to the entire world," he said. "She showed the people of Brownsville that no matter where you start, you own your story about where you end up."

The mayor wants Tina Turner's statue to be placed in Brownsville's Heritage Park, near Carver High School, which the singer attended as she grew up in Brownsville for several years of her youth.

The statue will be a great addition to the places that already honor Turner, including the Tina Turner Museum.

Aside from Tennessee, Buckingham Palace also honored the singer with a musical tribute. King Charles led the Band of the Welsh Guards to perform Turner's 1989 hit song, "The Best," according to People.

Hello! confirmed that the First Battalion Welsh Guards Corps of Drums joined the performance.

Tina Turner Dead at 83

Mayor Rawls' announced the city's plans came after the singer's spokesperson confirmed she died at the age of 83 in her Kusnacht home near Zurich, Switzerland, following a long illness.

The "What's Love Got to Do with It" hitmaker's family expressed their heartbreak as the world lost the music legend and "role model." The statement did not share Tina Turner's exact cause of death, but she had been open about her medical problems over the past years.

In 2016, she was diagnosed with intestinal cancer years after she first suffered from a stroke in 2013. The following year, she underwent a kidney transplant. Turner also found herself struggling with high blood pressure for decades leading to her death.

On top of these health issues, the singer also dealt with post-traumatic stress disorder following her marriage to Ike Turner.
