Corey Taylor is determined to continue performing with Slipknot regardless of his age and health status.

The Slipknot frontman worried fans when he had to undergo an emergency spinal surgery in June 2016 after learning that he had been suffering from a broken neck for years. Despite his serious health condition, Taylor wants to perform with the band until he breaks his neck again.

Taylor spoke more about his plans with the band when he was asked about his upcoming 50th birthday during an interview with Meltdown of Detroit's WRIF radio station. Per the singer, who will celebrate his special day in December, he thinks about it constantly as he reminds himself that performing is all he wants to do.

"Obviously, it's a different kind of set than what I used to do when I was younger, when I was a kid," he said. "But at the same time, I still love to play, I still love performing, and I still love to get out there and try to do it as hard as I can."

Taylor declared he would just keep going until he broke his neck again.

The singer will show his determination to strive more as he launches his 28-city 2023 tour on Aug. 25 at Fillmore Auditorium in Denver. The Live Nation-produced show will welcome Wargasm, Luna Aura, and Oxymorrons as the special guests on select dates until the last stop at The Wiltern in Los Angeles on Oct. 5.

How Did Corey Taylor Find Out About His Broken Neck?

After Taylor's emergency surgery, he marked an appearance on the September 2016 episode of Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones's radio show "Jonesy's Jukebox," and opened up about his health issue.

The singer revealed that he visited a medical facility for a routine physical to have "old-man updates" since he was already 42 at that time.

But after his physical examination, his doctor said he needed to go to a spinal surgeon especially, and undergo an MRI. From there, he found out that he had a "very old injury" in his C5 and C6 as the two vertebrae were compressed together and had since destroyed the disc.

The doctor reportedly expressed his shock that Taylor was still able to walk despite the extremely bad injury, and he soon suggested an emergency spinal surgery.
